Terms of Use

The ground rules for using 7fish.

Effective October 17, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Austen LLC ("7fish," "we," "us") covering your use of the 7fish mobile app and the get7fish.com website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use 7fish. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms.

2. Your account

You sign in to 7fish with Apple or Google. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. You can delete your account at any time. See Account deletion.

3. License to use 7fish

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own non-commercial language learning.

4. Subscriptions and payments

  • 7fish is free to use with ads. Optional paid subscriptions unlock additional features.
  • Subscriptions are purchased and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and are subject to their terms.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app or your 7fish account does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies.
  • We may change features or prices from time to time. Price changes for existing subscriptions are communicated through the app store, as required.

5. AI-generated content

7fish uses artificial intelligence to generate stories, translations, definitions, pronunciations, and tutor answers. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected, and is provided for educational and entertainment purposes only. Don't rely on it for professional, medical, legal, or safety-critical translation. We can't guarantee any particular learning outcome, including fluency.

6. Your content and acceptable use

You keep ownership of the prompts and questions you submit ("Your Content"). You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to use Your Content to operate and improve the Service, including sending it to our AI providers to generate responses. Stories generated for you are available for your personal use.

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything illegal, harmful, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit, or to create content that exploits minors.
  • Try to bypass content safeguards, usage limits, or ad and subscription requirements.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service or its generated content.
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

7. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its design, software, artwork (yes, including the fish), and trademarks, is owned by Austen LLC and protected by law. These Terms don't give you any rights to our trademarks or branding.

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties, such as Apple, Google, advertising networks, and AI providers. Your use of their services is subject to their terms, and we aren't responsible for them. If you downloaded 7fish from the Apple App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If it conflicts with these Terms, Apple's EULA controls with respect to Apple.

9. Termination

You can stop using 7fish and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AUSTEN LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR US $50.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Austen LLC from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Utah, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use 7fish after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
